Dopo una semifinale leggendaria, anche in Champions League si torna più a pensare a non prenderle. Rispetto a un PSG-Bayern Monaco da capogiro Atletico Madrid-Arsenal è stata una partita molto più tesa, con due squadre reduci da un momento tutt'altro che facile che si sono divise la posta giocando meglio un tempo per parte. La decidono, come sempre quando ci sono gare così contratte, i singoli episodi. E, in particolare, i rigori che stampano il punteggio finale sull'1-1. Leggera, ma c'è la spinta di Hancko su Gyokeres che permette nel primo tempo allo svedese di portare avanti i Gunners. C'è altrettanto, se non di più, il mani di White grazie a cui i Colchoneros pareggiano nella ripresa dagli 11 metri con Alvarez. Giusto, invece, non punire nuovamente Hancko nel finale per un incrocio di gambe con Eze che Makkelie revisiona al VAR, impedendo ai londinesi di riportarsi sul dischetto. Poco altro da segnalare, oltre a una clamorosa traversa di Griezmann.
